ABOUT JERUZALEM

Jeruzalem.jpg

Jeruzalem, a wine-growing village in Ljutomersko-Ormoške Gorice, is located at the confluence of the Drava and Mura rivers. With a history dating back to Roman times, it has become an important center of viticulture. The Church of the Sorrowful Mother of God, built in 1652, stands in the center of the village.
The contribution of the Knights of the Crusaders, which was donated by Frederick Ptuj at the beginning of the 13th century, is historically important. Jeruzalem survived the devastation of Turkey, as witnessed by Babji Klanec, where the women of Prlekija defeated a Turkish army in 1664.
Vineyards at higher altitudes, terraced due to the favorable location and climatic conditions, represent an important part of the landscape. Tourist attractions include St. Mary’s Church, a mansion with an old cellar and a rich arboretum. A Turkish chestnut stands by the road as a natural value of national importance.
Jeruzalem is a wine-growing center with a rich history that attracts tourists with its cultural heritage and picturesque landscape.
